The use of these two contrasting colours gives the scene a striking, dramatic nature, which guides the eye across the image. Furthermore, the two colours are used to convey a message of separation. An example of this is the vampire in the frontmost of the scene shown illuminated with red light,&nbsp; unlike Buffy, who is almost entirely blue. This separation of the two characters by colour depicts not only a divide but plays on colour associations; Typically the colour red is associated with evil while the colour blue is associated with good.
