Peter Max was a notable American pop and psychedelic artist of the 60’s. He grew up in Shanghai, China after his parents had fled Berlin, Germany from the Nazi Movement. He then spent years in Israel, Paris, and soon enough, the United States. These were parts of the world that had influenced Peter and his art. He studied art at the Art Students League of New York in Manhattan where he studied alongside Norman Rockwell.
I enjoy Peter’s work because of his daring use of bold colours. He has a way of unifying subjects in his work with colour, without quite overwhelming the viewer. I can relate his work to a modern illustrator that whom really admire, Kate Moross. She is a graphic designer, art director and illustrator who has similar qualities to her work. He is full of colour, experimental illustrations and pop art.
