First Nations Animal Symbols

Because I am a teacher the frog is the animal I most relate to.  Because it can live on land or in water, it is often associated with communication and the giving of power and knowledge.

Described by some as a joyful messenger.  Healing will follow if they appear to you at a time of pain or sorrow.

In First Nations culture, eagle is second only to thunderbird in the supernatural world.  It usually symbolizes power.

Symbolizes great strength and power because of its hunting ability.  It has human-like characteristics.

Often associated with the spirit world because of its nocturnal habits and silent flight.  They are often seen as spirit helpers and healers because of their relationship with Shaman.
