Impressionism & Post Impressionism: Auguste Renoir

Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s painting style is one that I like in particular for this period. There’s a certain sense of life injected into his work that I find, in my personal opinion, is to a certain degree lacking in other artists of this and earlier periods, except in the most bold of Baroque paintings. His use of vibrancy is pleasant to look at, as well as the very organic and unstaged feel of his figures in his images- I find even many scenes of day-to-day life can seem stiff and posed in paintings, and Renoir’s use of soft brush strokes paired with bright colors helps to nullify that feeling in his own paintings. All in all, my favorite artist of the group shown from this period.
