- Closure
Andrea Baratella
The Gestalt principle that is present in this image is closure. By looking at the image, I can tell that there are incomplete shapes and missing elements, therefore forcing the viewer to visualise those missing elements to complete the picture. The creator has put certain elements close enough together, without putting in too much detail, to form an image of a woman’s arms holding a man. I think the way she has used closure in this image really helps pull the viewer in. It helps you focus more on what is happening in the image, when you use a principle like closure. Personally, I believe closure is supposed to be quite simple and I think this image is a great example of that. It doesn’t use a whole lot of detail, there are enough elements and shapes to help form the picture. Overall, the creator does a great job at representing closure in this image.
2. Proximity
The Gestalt principle that is present in this image is proximity. As you can see, it combines the images of different sports and activities to unify them to form a separate image. When I observe the image, I understand that the creator put a lot of thought into the positioning of each image, and how big or small it should be to form the bigger picture. I like how the creator kept a theme to his design. As I mentioned earlier, it combines the images of different sports and activities to form an image of someone riding a tricycle. Overall, I think this image is a proper representation of how you can use things and bring them close together to form a separate picture.
