The Bauhaus movement produced an architecture that was stripped down to its simplest form. These designs were simple yet beautiful designs that can easily be massed produced.

Modern design styles such as Scandinavian minimalism, mid-century modern design, apartment buildings, and office spaces, were all influenced by Bauhaus.

The Bauhaus furniture characteristics:

Functional Shapes- Bauhaus designs are always functional and straightforward, which gave them a simple, geometric look. Bauhaus designs rarely featured any embellishment, ornamentation, or decoration.

Simple Color Schemes – the architecture was made with limited colour pallets such as white, gray, and beige. Primary colors, red, yellow, blue, were a go to in interior design. These colours were often used independently to place focus but were also used altogether.

Industrial Materials – Bauhaus put an emphasis on simplicity and industrialism. The designs were usually made with as few different materials as possible making it easier for production.

The most common materials include glass, concrete, and steel.

Balanced Asymmetry –  Bauhaus designs united balance in buildings by repeating elements creating visual balance through asymmetry.
