Visual Research II

Gestalt Principles:

Figure/Ground- This image relies on Figure/Ground because one of the faces were created to blend into the background and creatively drawing to create the allusion of 2 people kissing. Even the white face has no outline of an actual face, the artist created an allusion out of the black faced drawing was shaped so that it could help viewers visualize another face being present, even though its completely made out of the background.

Proximity- This illustration demonstrates proximity because you can see that this image was made out of triangle shapes that are working together to create the Statue of Liberty. The simple triangle shapes collaborate with one another to help create a complex image.

Design Fundamentals:

By Miniature Calendar.

Scale- This image represents scale because you can see that these miniature human figurines are sledding off of a banana. Humans are typically big compared to bananas, and the camera angle helps make the banana appear larger than it actually is, demonstrating scale.

Texture- This painting demonstrates texture, because you can see that layers of acrylic paint was slathered on a canvas creating a thick and chunky texture. The layering of paint caused the acrylic to poke out of the painting, creating a 3D effect and having the waves jump out at you.
