Danica Practicum Week 6: Ch-ch-ch-changes

Tuesday was the last day for a lot of Danica staff it was really sad, but in our meeting we tried to keep it light. We talked about what everyone will be doing to stay busy and made plans to keep having our meetings even if it’s just to talk about what shows we are watching. We talked about what baking, gardening and art projects we would be working on in the meantime. Many are going to pick back up painting traditionally. I’ve been doing some art projects for fun, painting traditionally feels really nice right now because otherwise, I’m just looking at screens. Last year when we went to Slice of Life I got an unfinished carved lettered piece. I had been meaning to paint it since then and I finally got around to it.

Before
After

This week I finished up the icons I was working on for packaging, planned some social media for the upcoming month and started a new illustration brief. Even though I won’t be working with everyone for the rest of my practicum they put together some illustration work to do, that may be used in the future when things pick back up. I miss working with everyone it has been a big shift from working in-office to working at home to now working alone.

My office has mostly been my couch as of late

I’m grateful to still be working with Andrea and we’ve been meeting more often but I miss having the whole team. With Andrea it is so nice to work with someone who I can not only learn from but that I feel comfortable expressing my fears and uncertainties at this time. I really appreciate that Danica has built a family and they all felt the hurt together from the bottom to the top. The fact that everyone wanted to stay in touch I think says a lot too about the community and support system they have built.
