“Super Graphics was the expressive and decorative ideals of architecture and European geometric art in the Post-Modern time frame.” It is due to the drastic changes in design from the 1960s and 1970s.
Barbara Stauffacher Solomon was one of these radical designers of the time, a Super Graphics Pioneer. Barbara went to study graphic design at the Basel Art Institute with Armin Hofmann after her first husband’s death. Studying under Hofmann helped shape her graphic design career. Her art was not the traditional type on a stretched canvas. Barbara embraced the world around her, changing interior and exterior spaces. Many of her works are not on flat surfaces, it illudes to motion, shown on floors, ceilings, pipes, corners and doors, etc.
I like Stauffacher Solomon’s work which inspires me to not restrict art to one platform or surface. And that one should venture out on their own to find something that showcases their abilities and talents.
