Joshua Ariza – SoCal vibes with Chomp Brand
While researching designs and processing the elements of design it struck me that there are subtle ways of implying line and the ability to utilize the aspects of Line without strictly using a straight line.
The series of prints by Joshua Ariza titled Never Worried depict various prey animals being accosted by suitable predatory animals. These images consistently incorporate the orientation of line and direction to communicate deeper messages in the animals.
The characteristics of the vertical line as dynamic and active match with the predator, while the more static and passive qualities of a horizontal line play to the nature of the prey. This orientation-implied layer within the posture of the animals bolsters the humorous contrast.
