Chank Deisel (Charles Andermack)
Chank Diesel (given name: Charles Anderson) calls himself a builder of fonts creating anything and everything to do with type. His typefaces being more directed to display typefaces, his typefaces can be seen on a wide variety of designs used for packaging, advertising, digital entertainment and much more. He loves to create a kind of personality within each type and that is just what he does.
At the beginning of his career, he was made the creative director for the magazine “CAKE” where he was first given free range to play with type and experiment with it. During his time as a creative director, he was able to travel and learn from other designers which let him to experience other people’s ideas and designs as well as sell his fonts to designers.
Chank Diesel created his own Type Foundry in 1996 and creates from his home office in Minnesota. With his wide span of clients over the years, Chank has been able to create not just type on paper but he has had opportunities to create murals and fine art painting as the subject matter as well.
What drew me to writing this blog post on Chank Diesel was that I could easily notice that he loves what he does, making every font he creates interesting and giving it a function.
