Paula Scher was born on October 6th, 1948. She was born in Virginia but grew up in Philadelphia and Washington DC. In the 1970s, she went to the Tyler School of Art, where she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. After this, she moved to New York City.

Her career as a designer and art director took off after her style of typography gained popularity in the 1970s ad 80s. She started working as a layout artist for Random House, in the children’s book division. After, she worked various different jobs. Some of these are CBS records, in the advertising and promotions department, and Atlantic Records, as an art director. She’s also been commissioned by multiple companies for her design skills.

I find Paula Scher very interesting. She’s made a lot of commonly recognized designs, like the Windows logo and the Citibank logo. She’s a very respectable and successful designer. I wish more people outside of the art and design scene knew her name and accomplishments.
