Self-portrait from my photography class last year

Who am I? Well, I don’t really know if I’m being completely honest. I go to school at Capilano University, studying communication design, and before that, at BCIT studying project management as well as communication design again. Ever since the age of 14, I have focused my life on getting a career in design through courses and extracurricular activities such as painting and drawing in my own time. In fact, my time was spent so much on focussing on the future I didn’t manage to live in the present. From this, unlike many others my age I find I’ve lost time to see and experienced a wider variety of interests causing myself to fall short compared to others. However, what I lack in social experience, I gained in work experience. Growing up I always found myself to be more mature than most my age, I felt like I wanted to “adult” faster so of course, at the first chance given, I started to work, gaining customer service experience in both a restaurant and retail environment. It is from these first initial jobs through the ages of 16 to 18 that I was able to become more organized and I quickly learned how to be efficient and show initiative.

So far at the age of 21, I believe I have made a great impact on setting a path for my future. Although I think I have done a good job of giving myself the experience I need to have a good work ethic in any given environment, I believe that there is a lot I must still experience to feel whole in a sense.
