Yearbook Spread

When I was assigned the yearbook spread project I immediately thought of all the 80’s and 90’s teen movies and all the bad yearbook photos with them. Not many people know the origins of the 80’s design movement which was inspired by the Italian architect Ettore Scottsass and the Memphis design movement. I used key elements from the movement including distinct shapes, bright colours and a sense of movement between the shapes to create the base for my spread. I then used a font with a handwritten feel to compliment the feel of the 80’s and black borders to be sure nothing felt lost in the piece. For this project I would give myself a 7/10 because if I were to do this again I would make the piece larger in scale so I could illustrate some titles and add more images.

Late Gothic & Early Renaissance

-Fra Fillippo-

Born in 1406, Fra Fillippo was an Italian painter known for his paintings and fresco’s as apart of the Early Renaissance movement. He took heavy influence after painter Masaccio in his early work. Later his work had created interest from the Medici family and later was commissioned by the Medici family to do The Annunciation and the Seven Saints. Fillippo mainly specialized in religious paintings (e.g. Madonna and child ) but also was a skilled illustrator and created many larger scale paintings in his time.
