I was tasked with doing a personal mood board based on a self-reflected SWOT and creating a personal advertisement in preparation for a mentorship and personal brand. Through the following, I’ve learned a lot about my own hardships and my own strengths.
Following the personal moodboards, I had my own personal tastes in mind when it came to placing the images in the pdf. Since this project is different from the rest of the school projects (we decide our own briefs and create assets that will reflect our personalities), I was able to reflect and refine my own tastes for design and illustration.
The most interesting takeaway behind this practice was trying to get images to reflect what I like to experience with my five senses. At first, picking images felt a bit odd, but after seeing everything put together I was pleased with the selection and being able to look back on all of it has allowed me to deeper reflect on my own tastes and how I perceive life.
I’m mostly a hands on person, that prefers technicality and functionality over pretty things. I don’t necessarily hate the pretty things in life, as my illustration and design tastes tend to dive around that area, but in life I appreciate the small things. Like the simple sounds of water hitting the pavement, rain hitting the umbrella, the feel of wires and tools in my hands as I work to solve problems.
When I destress, I still draw and I still want to create. The things that I do in my free-time are all to help with art and drawing. I don’t think I’ve ever stopped thinking about art, but it’s not due to the fact of being overworked, rather I just love the craft so much.
I think after being able to do a personal reflection and think about what constitutes me as a person, I have a better understanding on who I am and what I want to do.
My ideal target market would be companies or creatives looking for someone to translate their ideas into visual objects, or help bring their concepts to life in a collaborative effort.
I’d give my mood boards a 9/10 since I spent quite a long time thinking about each category and going over my own personal tastes.
