Practicum Week 4

This week I did my first client presentation and it went amazing!! I was super nervous, but luckily was able to mostly read off the slides. To my surprise, the client ended up liking all my designs and everything the team put together, no changes needed! It was the best feeling.

I also finished up a fun storyboard project for a case study, but unfortunately got food poisoning and wasn’t able to brief the editor on the video which really sucked since I was looking forward to it.

Compared to last week and honestly all previous weeks so far, this one was definitely the most chill as I had finished a couple projects and had a bunch more on hold. Because of this, I was tasked with a few small things, like designing some social media posts for the company and working on a little opening day idea generation for one of our clients. Looking back on it now, I kinda wish I had spent the spare time I had coming up with CPs (Creative Proposals), instead of emailing traffic and asking for more work to do. I really want to do at least one CP while I’m here, which isn’t much longer as time seems to be moving ridiculously fast.

One cool fun fact is that the Rethink offices are located in a heritage building which used to be a bank! The architecture is super neat and there are old safes/vaults littered around the building. One of them is on the sixth floor and was transformed into a recording booth! Such a cool way to utilize that space in a way that isn’t just making it a storage closet. The building also has the best location ever, as it’s in the heart of downtown and there’s so many restaurants and cafes surrounding it. Every day for lunch so far I’ve been faced with the conundrum of deciding where to go for lunch. At this point I feel like I have gone to a bunch of places, except Gastown, so I hope to explore their culinary dishes in the coming week.
