Practicum Week 7

This week was again extremely busy. Most of the week I was pretty inundated in work, but it does feel really good seeing the progress on each of these projects. It’s really strange to think that I only have one more week left at Rethink because I feel like I’ve already learned and accomplished SO much in the short time I was here.

The people are one of the best parts of the job for sure. I feel so lucky to get to work with such a talented and kind team of individuals. I’m sad that I won’t be there to see some of the projects I’ve been working on to the end, but excited to see them living in the real world! The project I’m most excited about is definitely the one I’ve been working on for YWCalgary. It’s a campaign to raise money to build a new women’s shelter, and I got the chance to do all the design work on it which was super cool! Almost makes me want to visit Calgary just to see the OOH designs I did in person.

On Friday, we had a Purdy’s Chocolatier come in for a taste testing and mini history lesson on the chocolates and Purdy’s itself! It was so cool, especially since when I was really little I wanted to be a chocolatier when I grew up, because of a picture book I had gotten. We tried five flavours already in circulation, and then got to try one that is still in production and hasn’t been released yet. They were all so good! However, that was also my lunch that day, LOL.

Aleks and I are going to do beer cart next Friday on our last day as a last hurrah sort of celebration, so we’ve also been planning that a bit. Oh, and I also joined the student outreach committee at Rethink as part of their DE&I group. Unfortunately I did not think it through entirely because next week is my last week, but I’m going to work on the deck a little before I leave.
