On my Life and Culture Survey from 1915 to 1925, I was assigned an Artifact. I paired this with the topic, Jazz. I wanted to create an iconic figure from this period and the one that stood out the most was Louis Armstrong, so I created him. I made the base of the figure out of a metal frame in wire and than surrounded the frame with air dry clay. After drying I painted the figure with acrylic paint. I made Louis’s suit blue because the same blue suit was featured in one of his posters. The Figure was than placed in front of a gold certain (cloth) and on a white stage to portray the white venue he played at. This symbolizes the racial barriers broken during the time. The text itself appears to be coming out of the trumpet for dynamic and creative purposes in order to make the audiences eye follow from one side to the other. The Frame around the text is a part of one of Armstrong’s song, “What a Wonderful World”.
I rate this a 9.5/10. I made sure this artifact was at its best quality because I wasn’t satisfied with the results of my last spread. The only thing I would change is the lighting on the text sheet to make it whiter instead of a blue tint.
