For week 3, the topic is on The New York School. one designer’s work really catches my eyes, which is BILL TAUBIN’s Levy’s ad campaign: “You don’t have to be Jewish”. it reminds me of my grandma’s special made sandwich when I was in primary school.

Bill Taubin

Bill Taubin 1916 – 1998, also known as William Taubin. He was born in Brooklyn and attended Abraham Lincoln High School, where his future began to shape.

Leon Friend


His teacher, Leon Friend the man who has helped to channel the talents of many outstanding painters, illustrators, art directors, architects and set designers. “It was friend who introduced me to ideas that I never knew existed, ” says Bill of the first great influence on his life. He learned about the Bauhaus, the genre, the great art in the Great New York City museums, and the design magazines. He chose the art of advertising as his career and won a scholarship to the Parsons School of Design for a general design course.
