For week 7, we learned about postmodernism and modernism. from the lecture, the word, supergraphic is unfamiliar to me. The unknown intrigued me and made me want to explore more.

One of the designers, BARBARA STAUFFACHER SOLOMON left a deep impression on me and I did some research study on her . in class, we learned that she was an influential graphic designer who made significant contributions to architecture in the 1970s, She was originally trained as a dancer in her hometown of San Francisco, She came to Switzerland in the 1950s to study graphic design under the Amin Hoffman, and she produced groundbreaking supergraphics for California’s sea ranch in the’60.

Moreover, I learned that In 1948, she married Frank Stauffacher, but after 8 years her husband passed away. She made the decision to learn graphic design with Amin Hoffman at the Basel School of Art. The reasoning behind that was she knew she has to make a living and support herself and her children. In 1969, she remarried Daniel Solomon, an architect and professor.

I m very impressed that she chose graphic design as a lifesaver to feed herself and her children, but her effort and attitude towards graphic design became her game-changer.
