In the week 9 lecture, there is a lot of things to do with digital. in 1979, the first Apple Macintosh is invented. life quality at that time was brought to a whole nother level.

For this blog post, I m going to do researches on apple laptops. instead of that, I am focusing on the creator of Haarlem street sign font in the Netherland, Frank Blokland.

In 1959, Frank Blokland studied graphic design and typography at the Royal Academy of Art. from 1978 to 1983 As a student of the renowned Gerrit Noordzij, he founded the workgroup Letters, which is now joined by a number of prominent Dutch typographers.

Brockland bought his first computer in 1983 and programmed a simple tool for digitizing vectored letters and modified them. It is called ‘DrawMonkey’

This insight formed the basis for a long-standing collaboration with programmers URW Type Foundry in Hamburg, Germany, which eventually resulted in the DTL FontMaster tools. ( DTL Documenta, DTL Documenta Sans, DTL Haarlemmer and, DTL Haarlemmer Sans and DTL Romulus )
