About

Hello! I’m Joanne Cuevas and I am a first-year student at Capilano University’s IDEA program. I was born in Vancouver, BC and currently live in Burnaby.

As a transfer student from Simon Fraser University, my journey through education has been filled with knowledge from various fields like science and education all leading me to back to a place where I’m most passionate to pursue a career in Graphic Design.

I consider the Bachelor of Design program at Capilano a fresh start to hone my skills and develop them in a way where I can confidently illustrate an idea and better communicate visually with purpose. I look forward to what opportunities are to come as I take on my first year of The Bachelor of Design program at Capilano, especially in a cohort among like-minded individuals and creators of inspiring work.

My current philosophy surrounding design includes an emphasis on clear communication and finding enjoyment within the process. In 5-10 years from now, I hope to be pursuing a career in graphic design and taking a lead on projects that I feel passionate about. I also hope to continue to enjoy what I create so that others may enjoy it too!

Apart from experimenting with mediums of visual art and design in my spare time, I also enjoy practicing yoga, discovering new music and going to concerts.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog!
