The third week working at TRIUMF I have continued to develop the “520 MeV Cyclotron” page that can be found on the Discover Our Site web.

I’ve been introduced to the cyclotron infographic that has been previously designed by Danielle Adams (an IDEA graduate), who did her practicum with TRIUMF in 2020.

Below, you can see side by side changes I have implemented to the infographic. To make sure all graphics were scientifically accurate, I collaborated with Thomas Planche, a Cyclotron Research Physicist working at TRIUMF.

This version of the Infographic is print-friendly and is used at the physical location to educate people that are taking the TRIUMF Tour.

My next objective was to turn this infographic into a web-friendly experience for the Discover Our Site. In order to do this, I decided to animate the infographic (as mentioned in the blog post from last week). I have turned the existing vertical infographic layout into a horizontal, more video supportive format. The image below shows the new optimized layout.

Horizontal layout for the cyclotron infographic

I have already made some progress on the animation that will be showcased on the “520 MeV Cyclotron” page. Since it is not fully complete, I will be posting the animation video in my next blog post.

I am really glad that I had the chance to take the logo animation class in my third year studying at the IDEA program because I can easily and with confidence execute small projects like this one now.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and I will write again next week.
