Product Team Quarterly Retro🕵🏻‍♀️

  • I get to see things behind-the-scene this week. Since I am new to the team, I am joining as an observer and I was jotting down notes during our 2 hours reflection. It’s great to see the transparency and honesty people bring in.
  • My biggest takeaway is that the role of a “scrum master” is really vital. They are often the meditator of the team who brings clarity within the agile project workflow.
  • I also learnt about some key components relating to project management, where task prioritization based on business KPIs, core brand value, story points and cost of delay have to be taken into consideration.

What am I up to this week?

  • For this sprint (1 sprint = 2 weeks), I designed our in-app notification announcing feature release. I started by auditing the in-app notification features of some existing products (including Loom, Slack and more) and reading articles to get a better understanding of UX/CX/BX correlations. These are the posts I would recommend you reading if you are interested in this topic:
  • Other than my practicum, I was juggling with my midterm study and job interviews. It’s been a little hectic week so I did feel burnout at times, but I do feel energized going to work because of the lovely team dynamic!
  • Because of our remote-first working environment, I still haven’t had to chance to meet any of them in-person. Initially, I was it would, in some ways, affect the team dynamic negatively. I was surprised with how smooth things go and how comfortable I feel in this team. It feels like I have known the UX team for a while even though we’re working remote these last 3 weeks. I particularly enjoy our UX casual collabs on Thursdays where we get to bring snacks and good ideas! Very excited to do an afternoon coffee with the Vancouver team someday.
